An affordable online platform, middle and high-school students can work alongside Dr. Foland as they pursue their passions via a combination of video web series, at-home practice exercises, and weekly-interactive live-streaming sessions for curriculum questions and project support.

The Shoulders of Giants is a nonprofit laboratory in Dallas that has been offering advanced science and engineering mentorship for students since 2013. This program was created and run by Steven J. Foland, PhD EE, who recently stepped down from his role as a faculty member and undergraduate program director for the department of bioengineering at UT Dallas in order to focus his efforts on expanding our impact as a charity. Our supplemental program has empowered many local middle and high school students with the essential knowledge, skills, and study habits necessary to achieve success in STEM at the university level and beyond.

Due to the success of this program at the local level, this year we have launched an online successor program to allow us to reach a broader community of young science and engineering students with far lower geographic and financial barriers to entry. The platform we have created, TSoG.tv, allows students anywhere in the world to learn about science and engineering and be a part of a supportive community of like-minded students. We just began a video series titled Foundations that teaches computer programming alongside advanced mathematical topics using a computation-centric approach that has had great success at the middle school level for students in our lab.

Membership in the program is $30/month.
