  • Q
How do I ask an Expert or other Community Member a question?
    A
Login to LinkEngineering and visit the profile page of the person you want to ask a question. Click the "Ask a Question" button on the right and type your question in the "Ask a Question" box that appears below and submit.
  • Q
How do I edit my profile?
    A
This is more of a sub-question than an answer...how can we edit our questions/posts or delete them (so we don't have replicas in case we accidentally posted in the wrong place)?
  • Q
How does someone become a LE Contributor, Mentor, or Expert?
    A
Information about the various types of membership on LinkEngineering is contained on the Get Involved page (http://linkengineering.org/570.aspx)
  • Q
How do I list my school or organization?
    A
The best way to list your school or organization is to link it to your personal profile. To do this, you must be a member of LinkEngineering. On your profile page, click the Edit Profile button, and an Organizations tab will appear. Add your organization or school information here and save it. If you know of a school or organization that you think should be listed on LinkEngineering that is not, you can send a note to linkengineering@nae.edu, and project staff will review your suggestion.
  • Q
How do I review and rate resources?
    A
To rate any resource, click on the link to that resource. On the resource page, you can comment on the resource, provide a rating (stars), and see how others have rated it. You need to give your rating a title in order to submit.
  • Q
How do I post a resource?
    A
You can post a resource through your profile or on the resource page. To post a resource from your profile, click on the Resources tab and select the type of resource you want to upload: your own lesson plan, a link to an existing lesson plan, or a video of you teaching engineering. If you are posting a link to either a YouTube video or to a lesson plan, you will need to have a title, the link, and to choose the filter variables. For the original lesson plan, there is a template that you can use to type in your lesson plan, or you can upload a document from your computer. You will also need to choose the filter variables. Community members can also post resources in both the Discover and Prepare sections. If you would like to post a resource, click on the appropriate section of the website and there will be a box to post or upload a resource. There are two different protocols for uploading resources: a) In the “What is Engineering Design,” “Professional Development,” and “Pre-Service Learning” areas of the site, there will be a box reading “Add a post…” above buttons for a link, photo, document, or YouTube video. Enter a description of the resource you are uploading in the text box and then click on the type of resource it is. A menu will come up that allows you to choose several filter variables for the document. Press “Post” to upload the resource. b) In the “PreK-12 Teaching Example Videos” and “Lesson Plans and Projects” sections, you will need to select a resource type from the drop-down menu. For the teaching example video that is the only option, but in the lesson plans section you can either upload a lesson plan you have developed or are working on ("Original Submission") or one that you found on another website and have tried ("Item already posted on another website"). If you are posting a link to either a YouTube video or to a lesson plan, you will need to have a title, the link, and to choose the filter variables. For the original lesson plan, there is a template that you can use to type in your lesson plan, or you can upload a document from your computer. You will also need to choose the filter variables.
  • Q
Why is my school not listed?
    A
Your school is not listed because nobody associated with that school has registered on the website. You can go ahead and create an account for yourself and list your school there. From that point on, anybody who will come to the site from your school will be able to add him/herself to the list of people associated with the school and the school itself will show up in search for other people to see.
  • Q
    How do I join LinkEngineering?
    A
Joining is simple. Click on the “Join LinkEngineering” button at the bottom of any page. Establish a user account by entering your name and email address. You will be prompted to establish a user profile, where you can (but are not required to) provide information about your institution, a bio, and a picture.
